Meet the Torrens Community Yoga Team

Padmapriya

A yoga practitioner for the last ten years, Padmapriya began teaching over two years ago in Bangalore, India. Trained in the Krishnamacharya tradition from Chennai, she teaches yoga with the aim of understanding and building a more compassionate and intimate relationship with oneself.

Her classes involve experiencing one’s own breath and using that as an anchor and guide throughout the practise. The asanas explored in her class are accessible; performing these asanas guided by the breath profoundly deepens one’s experience. She believes the practice space is a safe space for discovery, acceptance and growth, for both the student and the teacher.

Yoga has been a part of my life for over eight years and my practice has helped me, grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.

I suffered from anxiety before starting a beginner’s yoga course and was amazed at how quickly I was able to overcome long-term struggles. The benefits I found through breath, postures and meditation were life-changing.

I went on to complete 300-hour Vinyasa Flow teacher training with Yoga Trinity. I seek to help others thrive, feel more at home in their body and develop the ability to focus on what they want in life. By nurturing body, mind and soul through yoga, my students step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.

Soniya

Soniya is a trained and certified Hatha yoga teacher. Her classes are holistic and include movement, breath, relaxation, and meditative components. Soniya believes that Yoga is a pathway that has the potential to lead to a deeper understanding and connection to oneself and the world around us. She caters to people of all abilities and believes in providing a warm, inclusive and nurturing environment for learning.

I can’t imagine my life without yoga….after attending classes regularly for many years, I decided I wanted to learn more about ‘all things yoga’ and signed up for teacher training through Yoga Trinity. Under Heather Agnew’s fabulous guidance, I completed my 300 hour Vinyasa Flow training in January 2018, and have since completed 50 hour courses in both Core Yoga and Yin Yoga & Mindfulness, as well as Trauma-Aware Yoga training.

My goal as a yoga teacher is to help my students realise the benefits of yoga and mindfulness both on and off the mat. I aim to make my classes a fun and friendly experience where people feel welcome, comfortable and able to practice at their own pace and to their own ability. I offer varying levels of intensity within a class, encouraging students to pay close attention to their bodies and their breath and practice according to how they are feeling.

I discovered yoga in the early 1990’s and over the years it has provided me with a framework for life, which has kept me fit, healthy and happy.

I trained as a teacher in the Vinyasa Flow tradition under Heather Agnew of Yoga Trinity, have qualifications in nutritional therapy and workplace coaching and can help you focus on your health, wellbeing and personal goals.

I offer a safe space to practice and unwind, and design classes to support health and wellbeing that are accessible and deeply relaxing. Through the regular practice of gentle movement, quiet reflection and breath work, my students build strength, flexibility and balance – both on and off the mat.

I trained through Yoga Trinity. Growing up with a household influenced by yoga, my practice began at a young age, which ultimately lead to me training as a teacher when I was in year 11. I found that my practice improved my school results hugely and really changed my outlook on life, which naturally made me want to share what I had found and begin my yoga teaching journey.

As a student in my class, you are given the freedom to play, explore and express yourself in a way that rings true to your soul. It is my intention to assist you in finding a smile and a little bit of joy in your busy, daily life. You can expect a few giggles throughout a gorgeous practice of reconnecting with the breath and body.
